Dear Scott,
(57) I am replying to your letter of the 10th November to
Mrs. Granger Taylor about British companies in China.
I must agree that differentiation between British companies on account of the nationality of their shareholders seems to be difficult and undesirable. A company incorporated in this camtry under the provisions of the Companies Acts is none the less an English Company because the shareholders are foreigners and a foreign corporation is none the less foreign because the shareholders are English.
I am sending a copy of this letter to Miss Reid and Palmer,
Yours sincerely,
A.L. Scott, Esq., Foreign Office,
Whitehall,
3.W.1.
J.D.P. Chataway.
